Meet Barbara
My goal is to provide every client with a warm, nurturing and supportive environment that promotes exploration during the counseling process. I take a hands-on approach to problems my clients bring to therapy and work with them on finding "outside the box" solutions. My published graduate school thesis was entitled, "Psychological Hardiness and Adjustment to Life Events in Adulthood," which informed my belief in the construct of "grit". I am currently a member of the American Psychological Association, Texas Counseling Association and National Board for Certified Counselors. I was a volunteer mental health professional for the Dallas Fire and Rescue Department, and I am now a Red Cross Disaster Mental Health volunteer.
I have been through several career iterations during the course of my lifetime and have enjoyed learning and growing from each. My husband and I have been married for 45 years, and I have three children and (so far) four grandchildren. Daily exercise is important to me as a means to reduce stress and remain healthy. I love to travel whenever I can, and I am a huge animal lover.
